HELP KIDS WHILE SAVING MONEY ON PRESCRIPTIONS WITH FREE ‘COPS CARE’ CARD

Access to affordable medications and concern for the youth of our communities are important issues for senior citizens and working families in my district. So, I am very happy to share details about what is popularly referred to as the “Cops Care” card, which lowers the costs of prescription drugs while supporting programs that help our children make the right choices.

The Cops Care card is used at many local pharmacies to realize savings of up to 50 percent on generic drugs and 15 percent on brand-name prescriptions. However, the benefits cannot be used in conjunction with insurance or any other discounts.

Each time the card is used, Cops Care receives a 25-cent donation that helps fund youth safety programs like “SMART,” or Safety Means Abduction Registration and Training, which helps educators instruct kids in abduction awareness and resistance tactics. Other programs receiving donations include “Every 15 Minutes,” which shows the disastrous effects of drinking and driving, and “Choosing to Lose,” a program addressing juvenile delinquency. Cops Care also supports the “Rudy, the Silver Fox” program, which provides senior citizens with tips on avoiding scam artists.

Everyone can learn more about the program by calling toll-free (888) 299-5383. The Cops Care Web site at www.copsfreecard.org allows users to print free cards and provides a list of participating pharmacies.

I am pleased to support a program that educates children and teenagers about the dangers of abduction, drunk driving and juvenile delinquency while saving seniors and families money on their prescriptions.
