ITALIAN-AMERICAN SCHOLARSHIP MAKES COLLEGE MORE
AFFORDABLE
Deadline for Applications is April 15, 2006
Rising costs are affecting New
Yorkers in all facets of life these days. We cringe when the gas needle
hovers around empty, when home energy bills arrive each month, and our
children have fears about paying for college. Worrying about how they can
afford a college education is the last thing our children should have on
their minds.
The Italian-American State Legislators Conference has
established a scholarship program for prospective high school seniors to
receive a $1,500 scholarship. I’m proud to announce this exciting
opportunity to all the deserving students in my district. Four applicants
will be selected based on several criteria: the student’s grade point
average, interest in pursuing higher education, community involvement,
financial need, or athletic achievements.
The four recipients must be current or future college
students who are New York state residents. All applications must be received
by 5 p.m. on April 15, 2006 to be considered.
This is an excellent opportunity for students who want to go to college but
may not be able to afford a higher education. Scholarship winners will be
announced in June at the Italian-American annual Conference Weekend in
Albany. Every opportunity must be afforded to the students of Livingston,
Monroe, and Ontario counties for a higher education.
I strongly encourage interested students to contact my
office for applications by calling (585) 334-5210.
