ERRIGO LAUNCHES NEW YORK HUNGER AWARENESS FOOD DRIVE

Assemblyman Joseph Errigo (R,C-Conesus) announced that he is teaming with area programs to conduct a community food drive in conjunction with “New York state Hunger Awareness Day.”

Assemblyman Errigo will be collecting donations at his district office, 3045 East Henrietta Road, in Henrietta, beginning Monday, March 8, 2004.  Individuals unable to deliver items to the assemblyman’s office can call (585) 334-5210 to arrange a site pickup.

“I have worked with many food pantries, and spring is typically the season when their stocks are the lowest.  This is compounded by the already staggering increase in demand on these programs in recent years,” said Assemblyman Errigo.  Area food programs have reported an almost 50 percent increase in clients since 2001.

Donations will be distributed to food programs throughout the 130th Assembly District, which includes Livingston, Monroe and Ontario counties.  Items will be collected until March 17 and delivered to the programs on March 18 – “New York state Hunger Awareness Day.”

Assemblyman Errigo noted that full-course, pre-packaged meals are preferred due to their high protein content.  For more information or to participate, contact the assemblyman’s district office at (585) 334-5210.
