ERRIGO LAUNCHES ANNUAL SUMMER READING CHALLENGE
Assemblyman Joseph A. Errigo (R,C-Conesus) has issued
his annual Summer Reading Challenge to area children, with this year's
theme, "2005: Tune in at Your Library," designed to encourage families to
read together and build child literacy skills during the summer months.
Each family participating in the challenge receives a
calendar containing the school vacation months of July and August. Parents
are urged to read with their children for at least 15 minutes per day and
mark those times and dates on their calendars. Completed calendars may be
returned to the assemblyman's district office in Henrietta.
After reviewing the calendars, Errigo will issue state
Assembly Excellence in Reading certificates to the children to note their
achievements. Certificates will be presented by Errigo at a special
recognition ceremony to be scheduled later.
"This will be my fifth year sponsoring the Summer
Reading Challenge, and interest in the program continues to grow. This is a
valuable program that extends learning through the summer months," said
Errigo.
Summer Reading Challenge pamphlets and calendars are
available at local schools and libraries. Errigo noted the materials are
available through his office if area schools or libraries have not yet
joined the program. Errigo and his staff may be contacted at his district
office by calling (585) 334-5210 for the materials or to gain more
information about the program.
