Pittsford Central one of three area school districts to gain enrollment in new program Assemblyman Joseph A. Errigo (R,C-Conesus) joined Governor George Pataki at the Thornell Road Elementary school today to announce the Pittsford Central School District’s acceptance into the New York state Clean Air Bus Program. The Pittsford Central School District will receive $79,500 in total funding to retrofit school buses with fuel and engine equipment which is more environmentally efficient than currently used systems. “My congratulations to Superintendent Mary Alice Price, the school board members and all those involved with the school district. I commend your dedication to environmental and economic development,” said Assemblyman Errigo. The program, conducted jointly by the Governor’s office and the New York state Energy and Research Development Authority, began accepting applicants in 2003. In order to be enrolled, applicants were required to portray how the implementation of the program in the respective area would impact the environmental, economic and educational sectors of the region. Enrollees were able to effectively project the benefits of the program in their district. “I would like to thank the Governor and NYSERDA for providing this opportunity. This program reaches beyond environmental concerns into the realm of readily available manufacturing and business sectors eager to embrace new opportunities. By linking the high quality educational and commercial institutions available to us in this area, we can reposition New York on the forefront of technological and economic progression,” said Assemblyman Errigo.
