ASSEMBLYMAN ERRIGO LAUNCHES ANNUAL SUMMER READING CHALLENGE New York state Assemblyman Joseph A. Errigo (R,C – Conesus) has once again issued his Summer Reading Challenge to area children. The annual challenge provides families with an opportunity to read together and build child literacy skills during the summer months. Each family participating in the challenge receives a calendar for the months of July and August. Parents are urged to read with their children for a minimum of fifteen minutes a day and mark those days on their respective month. When 40 or more days are marked off, calendars are to be returned to the Assemblyman’s district office in Henrietta. Upon receipt of completed calendars, eligible children will receive a New York state Assembly Excellence in Reading Certificate to note their achievement. Certificates will be presented by Assemblyman Errigo at a special recognition ceremony to be scheduled in the near future. “This will be my fourth year sponsoring the Summer Reading Challenge and interest in the program continues to grow. This is a valuable program that extends learning through the summer months,” said Errigo. Summer Reading Challenge pamphlets and calendars are available at local schools and libraries. However, Errigo noted, if an individual’s school or library is not involved in the program, materials are available by contacting his district office at (585) 334-5210. Any questions regarding the program can also be directed to the Assemblyman’s district office.
