I would like to remind residents of the 130th Assembly District that the deadline for filing for the Department of Civil Service corrections officers' examination is Monday, October 3, 2005. The examination will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2005.

     The salary for a corrections officer trainee is $28,444 per year. This salary increases to $30, 043 after six months. After successful completion of the yearlong correction officer traineeship, the salary increases to $34,742.

     This is an excellent opportunity for those men and women who wish to begin an exciting career in law enforcement. New York State needs more professional men and women to work in the corrections field. I urge those who are interested in this career field to take this exam.
