FOR RELEASE: IMMEDIATELY
ERRIGO REMINDS CONSTITUENTS TO REMEMBER AND HONOR VETERANS
Assemblyman Joseph Errigo (R,C-Conesus)
reminded constituents today that Veterans Day is Thursday, Nov. 11.
Veterans Day has long been one of remembrance, Errigo
noted, and an occasion "to thank those heroes we sometimes overlook."
According to Errigo, Nov. 11 is the anniversary of the
signing of the armistice by the Allies and the Germans in 1918 that ended
World War I, after four years of conflict. Armistice Day officially became a
holiday in the United States in 1926, and a national holiday 12 years later.
On June 1, 1954, the designation was changed to Veterans Day to honor all
U.S. veterans.
"I encourage the people of New York to join me in
honoring our nation's veterans today and every day," Errigo said. "I am
thankful to all those servicemen and servicewomen who have served this great
nation in the time of need."
As always, if you ever need assistance, please contact
Assemblyman Errigo's district office at 3045 East Henrietta Road, Henrietta,
NY 14467, or call (585) 334-5210.
