ERRIGO SUPPORTS BIPARTISAN CHANGES IN ASSEMBLY
Assemblyman Joseph Errigo (R,C-Conesus) announced today that proposed
bipartisan changes to the way the Assembly operates would improve the way the
Assembly functions as a whole.
"I am pleased to announce a successful first step in our battle to reform
Albany," Errigo said. "These changes would improve the way the Assembly
operates, making it a more efficient, fair and open body."
Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Minority Leader Charles Nesbitt this
week announced preliminary agreement on a series of internal rules changes that,
if approved by the full Assembly, would dramatically improve Assembly
operations.
Errigo noted one of the new reforms would institute Tuesday sessions to
increase the time members are in session, therefore creating more time for
legislators to fully understand and discuss the measures before them.
"New Yorkers deserve to see a legislative process that operates
efficiently. The process used in Albany affects residents, local governments and
school districts alike. I will continue to advocate for a more efficient and
open government," said Errigo.
The new proposal would require the Senate and Assembly to pass a resolution
in March that would lay out a specific timetable for budget decisions to be
addressed.
Assemblyman Errigo may be reached at his district office at 3045 East
Henrietta Road, Henrietta, NY 14467, or by calling (585) 334-5210.
